The United States falls behind when it comes to parental and family leave laws. It is the only industrialized nation in the world among 42 countries analyzed by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development that does not have any federally mandated paid parental leave policy. Several countries do offer extensive parental leave, such as Sweden, that offers robust parental leave with parents sharing 480 days of paid parental leave per child, at 80 percent of the stay-at-home parent s salary.
The COVID-19 pandemic has further demonstrated the need for the United States to update its parental leave policies on both the federal and state levels. While subpar laws surrounding family and parental leave makes things difficult for parents across the country, many state legislatures have introduced bills that will allow for some type of paid parental leave in

Not only that, they will also not be allowed to avail quarantine/isolation leave.
Punjab is among the worst-performing states with below 40% coverage against the national average of 60%.
Pointing out the rise in number of Covid-19 cases in recent days, Punjab health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu stated that there were only 2,000 active cases about three weeks back. The number of active cases has crossed the 3,000 mark. He further said that Punjab is among six states in the country where cases are rising.

The New York State’s Department of Labor (“NYSDOL”) recently issued new Quarantine Leave guidance for 2021 – guidance that is certainly controversial in that it seemingly goes beyond the statutory text of the NY COVID-19 Quarantine Leave Law to create expansive new employer mandates. We previously wrote about NY’s COVID-19 leave requirements here and here. While the new guidance seems ripe for legal challenge, it nonetheless reflects the new position of the NYSDOL. Employers should review this new guidance – keeping in mind its informal, non-binding nature – as the pandemic continues to affect leave decision-making.
