Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hailed the Union Budget 2021-22 as the budget of Self-Reliant India. All sections of the society have been taken care of in this Budget. I believe this is the Budget to turn the disaster into an opportunity during COVID pandemic, he told ANI. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also lauded the budget for strengthening the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat . Farmers have been provoked against agricultural laws. These agricultural laws are in the interest of farmers, he added.

Over 10,000 government school teachers were sacked last year, in accordance with a 2014 high court order, which said that their recruitment process was a faulty one. The Supreme Court later upheld the verdict. Demanding a solution to the crisis, the teachers had been staging a sit-in over the last 52 days at Paradise Chowmuhani in the state capital.

According to the police, Ajit Sutradhar (55), one of the 10,323 retrenched government teachers, died on Monday following a massive cardiac arrest. Braving the cold weather, men and women teachers continued their indefinite sit-in in Agartala since beginning the protest on December 7 last year, demanding restoration of their jobs.

Chief Ministers and Health Ministers of northeastern states formally rolled out the vaccination programme in the state capitals whereas senior health officials especially of the National Health Mission (NHM) have been constantly monitoring the inoculation drive and registering the necessary data in the Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network (CoWIN) platform.
