Globe Telecom Inc. currently employs over 7,400 green solutions to reduce carbon emissions across its network.
Better yet, by 2030, it will upgrade its infrastructure and retrofit its industries to make them sustainable and slash CO2 emissions by 30 percent, the telco today (May 25) stated.
“We continue to engage partners in implementing renewable energy solutions such as solar panels and fuel cells within our operations,” explained President and Chief Executive Officer Ernest L. Cu
Already, the telco consumes cleaner fuel at lesser quantities, achieving lower emissions and maintaining energy-efficient heat removal throughout its operations.
Globe has been deploying green network solutions since 2014.
These include fuel cell systems, direct current generators, lithium ion batteries and free cooling systems.

Telcos are evolving from being aggregators of other people’s services and content to becoming content platforms in their own right, Globe Telecom Inc. President and CEO Ernest Cu revealed in the Asia Video Industry Association’s recent webinar, “Philippines in View”.
“Globe has always been at the forefront of providing value to customers with our plans, so they can access an array of content that matter to them,” he explained.

“We pioneered content bundling when we introduced plans that came with NBA League Pass, Netflix, and Spotify many years ago, and we continue to do so with our partnerships with Amazon Prime, HBO Go, and Viu, among others,” according to Cu.

Revenues up 3% at P37.8 B
Globe Telecom Inc. weathered the extended lockdown, with P37.8-billion revenues, up 3 percent in the first quarter of 2021, with a robust contribution from its broadband data segment, and its net income is up 11% to P7.3 billion.
Although 2021 promises to be “a very challenging year, Globe is weathering it well because we’re a staple. People depend on us as a service,” Ernest L. Cu, President and CEO stated Friday, (May 7) in virtual presscon.

The telco’s data revenues accounted for 79% of total service revenues from 75% last year, fueled by the rising data connectivity demands of consumers for remote working, entertainment, E-commerce, and education.
