Yakima Real Estate Still Seeing Strong Growing Numbers
The Yakima real estate market continues to see growing numbers despite the ongoing pandemic. Cory Bemis owner of Yakima s John L. Scott Real Estate says people continue to buy and sell homes in the Yakima area. Many are being pushed by 30 year fixed rate mortgages which are now averaging a 3.02% interest rate according to MortgageNewsDaily.com. Bemis says that s more than 0.25% less than one month ago. Bemis says there were 141 total homes sold in April, 2021 which is a 2.8% decrease from the 145 homes that sold in April of last year. All total there have been 525 homes sold so far this year. That number is a 0.4% increase from last year when 523 homes sold.

Yakima Metrics Met to Stay in Phase-3
Yakima Health District officials say Yakima County is now meeting two important metrics to stay in Phase-3 of the state s reopening plan. The state is in a two week pause right now, announced by the governor last week. After the two week pause, each county will be evaluated based on two metrics. Yakima County will be able to remain in Phase 3 if at least one of the following two metrics can be met:
1. Less than 200 new COVID-19 cases per 100,00 population per 14 days
2. Less than 5 new COVID-19 hospitalizations per 100,000 population per 7 days.
Yakima Health District Spokesperson Lilian Bravo says there s good news. She says currently Yakima County numbers are passing and that s good news. Right now we re at 158 cases per 100,000 and 2.4 COVID-19 hospitalizations per 100,000. Experts Say Pipeline Shutdown Could Impact Gas Prices
Another week closer to summer and while the price of gas is expensive the price is unchanged this week selling for an average of $3.38 per gallon in Yakima according to Gas Buddy s daily survey of 91 stations in the Yakima area. They say gas prices in Yakima are 18.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and $1.12 per gallon higher than a year ago. GasBuddy says the cheapest gas in Yakima is selling for $2.95 per gallon. The most expensive is selling for $3.69 a gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy says there could be gas supply problems in the near future for some parts of the country because of the recent pipeline shutdown. While average gas prices jumped last week as the nation continues to see COVID-19 recovery, all eyes are now on the Colonial Pipeline and the fact a cyberattack has completely shut all lines, leading to what could become a major challenge for fuel delivery, the situation is g
