Weather in the Portland metropolitan area is not expected to receive much love on Valentine s Day.
Severe weather with temperatures below or only slightly above freezing is expected to continue through Sunday, Feb. 14 with more snow and freezing rain possible in the afternoon. The State of Emergency declared by Oregon Gov. Kate Brown on Saturday remains in effect, with temperatures not expected to rise much above freezing until Monday morning, at the earliest.

All transit service is canceled, major roadways are closed. and hundreds of thousands are without power.
A dangerous mix of snow and ice hammered much of the region late Friday and early Saturday, forcing TriMet to cease operations, as well as shut down many roads, and knock out power for hundreds thousands of people. Mass vaccination clinics were also canceled for Saturday and Sunday in Portland.
A Winter Storm Warning remaining in effect at least through 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13.
Early Saturday morning, TriMet announced that all MAX and bus service has been temporarily suspended until further notice due to the weather conditions, including LIFT paratransit service. Portland Streetcar service was halted Friday. The Oregon Department of Transportation has closed Interstate 84 in the Columbia Gorge, and the Portland Bureau of Transportation has closed Marine Drive. Partially treated sewage likely discharged into Willamette River February 14 2021
A power outage at Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility in Oregon City led to the spill, officials say.
Clackamas County officials announced Sunday, Feb. 14, that widespread power outages crippling the region have likely led to partially treated wastewater spilling into the Willamette River.
The Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility in Oregon City has been operating on standby generator power during the storm. But with the prolonged outage, the facility is likely now discharging water that is out of compliance with the Clean Water Act, officials said Feb. 14.
People are urged to avoid contact with the water in the Willamette River downstream of the facility including through Portland for the next few days.
African Youth and Community Organization excited for new Dream Center February 14 2021
The nonprofit organization secures a two-year lease with Metro for a new location in Northeast Portland.
A Portland nonprofit is seeing a lot of new developments this year after moving into a bigger place more central to the African immigrant community they serve.
African Youth and Community Organization (AYCO) recently moved to a new location on Northeast 74th Avenue and Glisan Street the former site of the Trinity Broadcasting Network thanks to a partnership with land owner Metro, the elected regional government. This new center is the Dream Center for AYCO, said Jamal Dar, the organization s executive director.
