Prince was undoubtedly a musical icon, influencing a generation of musicians to come, but his impact didn’t end there he also left a lasting impression on fashion, thanks to his flamboyant style and revolutionary attitude towards gender and sexuality. Now, an exhibition at his Paisley Park home is set to offer a closer look inside his iconic wardrobe (a part of it, at least).
Titled
The Beautiful Collection: Prince’s Custom Shoes, the exhibition pays tribute to… you guessed it, Prince’s vast shoe collection. More specifically, it will feature more than 300 pairs of the musician’s shoes (and roller skates), many of which were custom-made for music videos or live performances.
The group also wants to officially release its
Technical Difficulties project, though Abstract adds there are “hella samples to clear”, saying: “I wouldn’t even be surprised if that came after the last album.” Earlier this month, Kevin Abstract additionally announced a new solo album, following 2019’s

Released last year,
I May Destroy You powerfully and unflinchingly explored issues of consent, race, and trauma, based on Coel’s own experience of sexual assault. Critically acclaimed, there was outrage when the series was snubbed by the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year.

I May Destroy You was not only my favourite show of 2020, it’s my favourite show ever. It takes a complicated issue of a rape – I’m a sexual assault survivor myself – and infuses it with heart, humour, pathos, and a story constructed so well I had to watch it twice, just to understand how Coel did it,” wrote
“I want to make it clear that I’m still learning and coming into myself and that I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson,” they say, understanding that it may take some time for fans to adjust to using their new pronouns. “It would mean the world if people could start identifying me as they/them but I will be accepting if people slip and say she/her because I know that, being in my position, it will take a while for people to get used to.”
Further into the video, the singer speaks of the emancipatory moment of cutting their hair short. “Everyone sees me as the Disney popstar and me cutting my hair off was the result of years of gender conforming,” they say. “Years of stereotypes that I was trying to fit into in order to gain validation from audiences. I was doing whatever I could to seek joy in other areas of my life but couldn’t feel it until I started being myself.”
