Scientists Issue Open Letter Detailing Incorrect and Contradictory Claims in WHO Origins Report Used to Downplay Lab Leak Theory A group of 24 scientists issued an open letter Wednesday demanding a full investigation into the origins of COVID-19 that includes a thorough examination into the possibility the virus could have escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China. The scientists said the World Health Organization’s report on the origins of the pandemic, which concluded the lab leak hypothesis was extremely unlikely, “failed to reach some most basic standards of credible analysis and assessment,” noting that the report contained 12 incorrect, disputed, contradictory and imprecise statements used to downplay the theory.

Senate File 34, which passed the Wyoming House 48-11, requires doctors to use “commonly accepted means of care” for “the treatment of any infant born alive.” “Any physician performing an abortion shall take medically appropriate and reasonable steps to preserve the life and health of an infant born alive,” the legislation said. It will go into effect in July.

Officials apprehended nearly 19,000 unaccompanied migrant minors, around 53,600 family units and over 99,000 single adults, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Encounters were up 71% in March from February. “CBP has experienced an increase in encounters and arrests. This is not new,” CBP Acting Commissioner Troy Miller said in a statement Thursday. “Encounters have continued to increase since April 2020, and our past experiences have helped us be better prepared for the challenges we face this year,” Miller said. “We are committed to balancing the need to maintain border security, care for those in our custody, and keep the American people and our workforce safe.”
