The Department of Petroleum Resources has warned those who indulge in illegal sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas and other sharp practices to desist from such henceforth.
It said ‘black market’ gas distribution was a serious danger to the gas sector.
Operations Controller, DPR, Warri Zonal Office, Mr Antai Asuquo, gave the warning at the 2020 Annual General Meeting of the DPR, Warri Zonal Office on Thursday at Ugboroke Community near Warri.
He said henceforth, all trucks involved in the illegal trade would be impounded while the owner company would take full responsibilities of their drivers.

TOKYO, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Japan’s oil imports fell to the lowest in more than 50 years last year as the pandemic hit economic activity and speeded a long-term decline, while other energy purchases fell to decade lows, Reuters calculations based on data released on Thursday showed.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports also declined, dropping to the smallest amount since before the Fukushima nuclear disaster which sent purchases by the world’s biggest buyer of the fuel soaring as reactors were shut down, the preliminary data released by the finance ministry showed.
Kyari said: “Nigeria is currently witnessing increased domestic gas demand in the industrial and power sectors, leading to increased production and reduced gas flaring.
”Nigeria has also witnessed increased household access to gas networks and LPG in the main cities. There are deliberate plans to expand that access to rural areas.”
According to him, there are conscious efforts by the Federal Government aimed at deepening domestic gas consumption through the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and LPG.
He said the moves included the autogas scheme, the National Gas Expansion Programme, and construction of gas networks such as Escravos Gas Pipeline System (ELPS), Obiafu-Obrikon-Oben (OB3) and Ajaokuta -Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipelines.
Abuja, Jan. 19, 2021 The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) says Nigeria’s domestic consumption of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), popularly known as cooking gas, has exceeded one million Metric Tonnes (MT) in 2020.
The agency disclosed this in a statement signed by Abdulkadir Saidu, the Executive Secretary, PPPRA, in Abuja, on Tuesday.
He said the consumption rate made 2020 the first year in the nation’s history where LPG consumption had reached the one million MT threshold.
“Nigeria consumed 840,594.37 MT LPG in 2019, indicating an increase of 60.5 per cent over 635,452.061MT recorded in 2018.
“This steady and sustained pattern of growth culminating in the over one million metric tonnes of LPG domestic consumption milestone in 2020 has placed the country 1st in West Africa and one of the leading LPG consuming nations on the continent.
