LOWVILLE – Louise E. Cooke, 97, formerly of Trinity Avenue and Green Apartments died on Sunday morning, February 28, 2021 at Lewis County Health System Nursing Home. Burial will be in the Lowville Rural Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the ARC Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 97, Utica, NY 13505-0097 or to the Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 5411 Trinity Avenue, Lowville, NY 13367. Born on April 14, 1923, in Watertown, a daughter of the late Levi and Clara Slack Gaylord, Louise graduated from Lowville Academy in 1941. She then attended Canton ATC and graduated from Powelson Business School in Syracuse. She also attended Syracuse University after serving with the United States Navy with the Women Volunteer Emergency Service from 1943-1944. Louise was a member and past secretary of the Waves National Leatherstocking Unit -26, Utica. (Women who served in the Sea Services) and was also a member of the Post - 162 American Legion in Lowvil

WOODBRIDGE – The township reported 132 new COVID-19 cases over a four-day period, which brings the total number of cases to 8,676, according to Mayor John McCormac in his coronavirus report on Feb. 26. Thirty-two new cases of COVID-19 were reported for Feb. 22, 44 new cases were reported for Feb. 23, 30 new cases were reported on Feb. 24 and 26 new cases were reported for Feb. 25. “These numbers are just a slight bit above all of our recent rolling averages, but they are significantly below the numbers we experienced in January into early February so we are still in a much better place,” McCormac said. The number of COVID-19 cases include East Jersey State Prison and a number of related state facilities in the Avenel section of the township. The state reported zero new cases from their facilities over the four-day period. The total number of cases at the facilities remain at 840.

Peacock, 79, of Stonington, ME, died on February 22, 2021, at the Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester, MA, after a multi-year struggle with lung cancer. Rev. Peacock moved to the “U.P.” of Michigan in 1997, from Ann Arbor, MI. Ginny served at Grace Episcopal Church in Ishpeming, St. John’s Episcopal Church in Nagaunee, Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Little Lake, and ran the diocesan Page Conference Center in Gwinn. Later, she served at Trinity Episcopal Church in Houghton. While in the UP, Ginny greatly enjoyed her adjunct teaching at Northern Michigan University, where she taught courses in Religion and Philosophy. She also engaged in sports such as swimming, and learning to skull. She did an annual swim across Teal Lake for a few years, even winning her age division.

Thomas “Tom” J. Gordon 1929 - 2021 Thomas “Tom” J. Gordon GREELEY, Colo. Thomas “Tom” J. Gordon, 91, of Greeley, passed away Jan. 8, 2021, at his home in Greeley. Tom was born June 22, 1929 in Mountain View, Okla., to Thomas J. and Etta (Murray) Gordon. He married Wynona Webb on Oct. 7, 1951 in Annapolis, Maryland. They were married for 66 years. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors’ degree in Chemistry. Tom moved to Great Bend, Kan., in 1954. He was the founder and President of Gordon Lab, Inc., an oilfield chemical company, for about 25 years. He was a member and officer of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, and member of the Board of Directors of the American Petroleum Institute, the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce and President of the Great Bend County Club.
