Woodbridge new COVID-19 cases remain high, mayor warns of virus vaccine scams ahead of roll out
WOODBRIDGE – The township reported 183 new COVID-19 cases over a three-day period, which brings the total number of cases to 5,064, according to Mayor John McCormac in his coronavirus report on Dec. 21.
Seventy-nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported for Dec. 18, 64 new cases were reported for Dec. 19 and 40 new cases were reported for Dec. 20.
The mayor said experts attribute the recent surge in cases partially to the Thanksgiving holiday family events. He urged the public to avoid the same thing from happening in the next few weeks.

Margery Laurette “Marney” Collins, age 76, died peacefully Wednesday, December 16, in the memory unit at Willow Pond Senior Care in Statesboro.
A proud native of Delaware and a “cradle-to-grave” Episcopalian, Marney valued education and enjoyed connecting with friends from the human, animal and plant realms.
She attended Queens College in Charlotte, N.C., on a full scholarship, earning a BA degree in English and French in 1965. Six years later, she received the MA in English at the University of Hartford in Hartford, Conn. She finished coursework and exams toward a Ph.D. in English at the University of Connecticut in 1983.

The holidays can be difficult for those coping with isolation. And, this year, the fight against the spread of the coronavirus has meant a necessary surge in social separation. For elderly individuals, loneliness can be especially difficult.
At Harrogate, a not-for-profit life plan community in Lakewood, isolation of the residents has been a concern of the staffers this season.
Kelly O’Toole, MSW, director of social services at Harrogate said, “COVID-19 has had such an impact on everyone, especially our seniors. The impact social isolation has on older adults can be detrimental. It not only affects their mental health but their overall well-being. It has been hard for all of our residents at Harrogate to have such a change in their routine both inside and outside of Harrogate. WOODBRIDGE – The township reported 261 new COVID-19 cases over a four-day period, which brings the total number of cases to 4,881 according to Mayor John McCormac in his coronavirus report on Dec. 18.
Sixty-four new cases of COVID-19 were reported for Dec. 14, 87 new cases were reported for Dec. 15, 51 new cases were reported for Dec. 16 and 62 new cases were reported on Dec. 17.
“December is now officially our worst month of the year and there are 13 reporting days left,” McCormac said. “It’s been over two months since we had a day in single digits. It’s very hard to find good news in the numbers, but we do know that the number of tests being given is also higher than ever.”
