DISD
In spite of challenges caused by the nation’s worst pandemic in history, Denison High School’s Class of 2021 graduating seniors are looking forward with great excitement to Saturday May 22nd at 8:30 p.m. when they’ll make the time-honored trip across Munson’s historic graduation stage to proudly accept their diplomas. Because the ceremonies will be outdoors, masks will not be required, but social distance guidelines will be enforced. Only graduates will be seated on the field.
In case of rain on Saturday, graduation will be moved to Sunday night at 8:30. If it rains on Sunday night, the program will be moved to the DHS gymnasium and each senior will be issued four tickets to distribute to family.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Exactly a year ago, at the height of the pandemic, Motherâs Day celebrations were either canceled or altered due to coronavirus restrictions.
Last year, the Verandah Retirement Community held a drive-by Motherâs Day parade for their residents.
âLast year was a different year when they had the parade,â says resident Joanne Torres. âBut this year weâre coming down into this lovely brunch. There are a lot of things that are changes here at the Verandah and they are good changes and weâre hoping for the best.â

There’s $6 million set aside to assist up to 1,000 Anderson County families with missed rent payments during the pandemic, and approximately $500,000 of that has been given out so far.
The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is available to certain families to assist with rent and utility payments, and AIM Charities director Kristi King-Brock feels the organization is right on track with the disbursements.
“On Monday, we had 52 applications that had been processed and payments made, King-Brock said last week. We had 68 that were in the queue. More than 600 people have already submitted the pre-application and just haven t finished their application.
