The Irish representative at the awards ceremony Wolfwalkers - made by the Kilkenny-based Cartoon Saloon - lost in the Best Animated Feature Film category to Pixar s Soul.
In a surprise victory, Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor for his work in The Father, beating out the bookies favourite in the category - the late Chadwick Boseman, for his performance in Ma Rainey s Black Bottom.
Daniel Kaluuya received the Best Supporting Actor prize for Judas and the Black Messiah, as Youn Yuh-Jung took home the Best Supporting Actress Prize for Minari.

Daniel Kaluuya accepted the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role on Sunday night at the Oscars. After beginning with a serious and heartfelt speech about
Black Panther Fred Hampton, he lightheartedly added tonight he would celebrate life, saying My mom and my dad.they had sex. It s amazing! I m here!
The cameras then cut to the British actor s mom and sister in the audience, who laughed embarrassedly. The moment was quickly noticed on Twitter. This user wrote: Daniel Kaluuya may think he s celebrating tonight but not without a proper beating from his mom first.
Set in 1957 and inspired by Romeo and Juliet, the story centres around two youngsters from rival New York City gangs who fall in love as tensions between their respective friends build toward tragedy.
