A new “global centre for excellence” in renewable energy technologies is to be opened in the Highlands.
The facility, named The Power House, will focus on applied research and development in the fields of floating offshore wind and green hydrogen and offer educational opportunities for students, workers and school children.

The Power House in Alness will capitalise on the region s established renewables energy sector to become an internationally recognised centre of excellence.
Ross-shire will become home to a globally recognised centre of excellence in renewable energy, under plans announced by Opportunity Cromarty Firth.
The Power House will be housed at Tern House, a North Highland College UHI campus,in Alness Point Business Park, and will bring together specialist groups from Scotland and beyond with the aim of ensuring the country becomes a world leader in future renewable energy technologies.

The online event on February 18 is held in association with Thorntons Law and supported by Skills Development Scotland.

Employers can now get financial support to employ a modern or graduate apprentice for a limited time.
Up to £5000 is available to employers to hire someone new or develop an existing employee through Skills Development Scotlandâs apprenticeship employer grant.
Inverness College UHI can help connect employers with apprentices and provide advice and support.
Funding is available for employers who start apprentices before March 25 but this is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
