STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The number of coronavirus-related deaths continues to rise on Staten Island, with two additional fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data from the city Health Department.
A total of 1,463 borough residents have died since the beginning of the pandemic. Of those deaths, 1,263 are considered “confirmed,” while 200 are categorized as “probable,” according to the data.
A death is classified as “probable” if the decedent was a city resident who had no known positive laboratory test for the coronavirus, but the death certificate lists “COVID-19” or an equivalent as a cause of death.
