Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka sought to set the record straight on his decision to de-gazette Isaac Mwaura as Nominated Senator.
Dr Lusaka who last week came under fire from a section of senators who faulted his move despite a court order, refraining him from implementing the decision of the Jubilee Party to revoke Mwaura s nomination, yesterday maintained that he acted within the law in declaring a vacancy upon the expulsion of the Nominated Senator.
He told members that there was no court order barring him from declaring the vacancy.

Talk has emerged of a looming impeachment against Interior CS Fred Matiang i who has fallen out with a number of MPs allied to ODM Leader Raila Odinga as well as those allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
On Wednesday, May 19, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi announced that he was confident that the no-nonsense CS would be impeached within the next two weeks.
Sudi is an insider in the Ruto camp and has been described by political pundits as the testing mouthpiece for the group.

With unity talks on the brink of collapse, the Coast Region is perhaps coming full circle, with its leadership repeating the errors that have for decades hindered the desired political unity.
It has emerged that traditional turf wars, mistrust or selfishness among Coast leaders and the influence of upcountry votes have impeded the region’s quest to unite ahead of next year’s elections.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, who has been spearheading the unity talks and the clamour for a Coast political party or coalition, appears to have thrown in the towel, accusing MPs of frustrating his efforts.
On Thursday, May 13, a five-judge bench of the High Court delivered a unanimous judgment declaring the Building Bridges Initiative process unconstitutional.
