Idaho added only 149 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, continuing a recent trend, but state health experts said the number of variant cases is increasing.

May 27 Idaho health officials on Wednesday reported one new death from COVID-19 and 192 new cases. Idaho Department of Health and Welfare data also appeared to show jumps in hospitalization and ICU admittance numbers.
Canyon County reported the highest number of new cases on Wednesday, with 42. Ada County reported 38 new cases. To date, Health and Welfare has recorded 191,738 cases of COVID-19 statewide.
Officials reported a single COVID-19-related death in Bonneville County, bringing the county total to 170. Eastern Idaho Public Health said the death was a woman in her 70s. Idaho has reported 2,088 deaths related to COVID-19.

May 25 Idaho health officials on Monday reported 329 new cases of COVID-19 and six deaths in a state that has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country.
The 329 new cases reported since Friday are in line with case numbers in recent days, with a quarter of the new cases reported in Ada County (52,644 total).
Officials also reported six new deaths related to COVID-19. One new death was reported in each of the following counties: Bannock (110 total), Canyon (299 total), Jefferson (31 total), Kootenai (210 total), Lewis (10 total) and Owyhee (30 total). To date, 2,086 Idahoans have died of COVID-19.
May 19 Idaho's daily COVID-19 case count remained low on Tuesday, with the state adding 193 cases, according to data from the Department of Health and Welfare. Idaho's case count has fallen in May. On May 3 the state's moving seven-day average was 186 daily cases. That average has been between 158 and 167 since May 5, according to the data. New cases have yet to fall to levels seen this time .
