Vincy Cultural Ambassadors doing their part to help

This group of artistes, musicians and persons in the creative and cultural industries came together and immediately began assisting shelters with food, water and other necessities. The group later shifted its focus to assisting evacuees staying with friends or families at private homes. Members of this group include, Skinny Fabulous, Rondy “Luta” Mc Intosh, Rodney Small, Orande “Bomani” Charles, Shaunelle Mc Kenzie, Charlie “Chewalee” Johnson, Lester Iroha, Andrew James, Pablo Lewis, Franklyn “Supadex” Richards, Esworth “Ezzie” Roberts and others.

On Tuesday 11th May, Flow Country Manager Mr. Wayne Hull presented 400 airbeds, 400 air pumps and linens to the Director of the National Emergency Management Organisation Ms. Michelle Forbes at Flow’s Arnos Vale campus. Director Forbes in her remarks stated: “I wish to express my sincere thanks. We have had over 18,000 persons displaced as a result of the eruption, with persons staying in private homes, and we have another 4,000 persons in shelters. A release from the Council says, although the alert level has now been changed to orange, this does not mean that persons are out of harm’s way, only that the danger is not as imminent. It said, if the need arises for evacuation, it is anticipated that there will be adequate time to ensure the safety of citizens.
