According to the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth, this routine maintenance dredging project will be conducted at Trafalgar Wharf between 14 – 22 June 2021. The vessels conducting this task are the spud legged backhoe dredger “BOXER” assisted by the tug “DEBEN TROY”. They will work 24 hours a day, displaying the appropriate signals from the COLREGS when conducting their operations, the Notice said. Spoil from the dredging vessel will be loaded into the self-propelled barge “SPLIT 2” for disposal to the NAB Spoil Ground.

According to the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth, the surveying and maintenance dredging of the Portsmouth Harbour and its approach channels will be conducted from 22 to 30 March 2021. For the works, the contractor will use the “plough” vessel “FASTNET SOUND” (LOA 27m) and trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) “WATERWAY” (LOA 97.7m) with the support vessel “SHORELINE” carrying out survey operations. “All vessels will display the appropriate signals when conducting survey and dredging operations,” the Harbour Master said. “Mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass at slow speed while dredging operations are being conducted.”

According to the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth, the start of this routine maintenance dredging project is set for the 1 March 2021. The works will be conducted 24 hours a day with completion due by late March 2021. For the project, the company will bring in one of their backhoe dredgers, the “Witton II” or “Boxer”. Once in place, the dredger will display the appropriate signals from the COLREGS when conducting their operations, reported the Harbour Master.
