California officials gave public school districts a March 31 deadline to reopen all schools for optional in-person learning. If they don’t, districts could miss out on $6.6 billion in state funding. Gov. Gavin Newsom and the state Legislature announced the new school reopening plan on Monday morning, the AP reported. To qualify for the funding, districts in the purple tier must bring back students up to second grade, which many Tulare County schools have done or are planning to do so. Those in the red tier must bring back all elementary grades and at least one middle school and high school grade.
