Vance T Nye Makes Major Gift to SWOSU

SWOSU Press Release Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has announced the receipt of a major gift from Vance T. Nye of Edmond. Nye, a 1990 SWOSU alumnus from Weatherford, has made a generous contribution to the SWOSU Football Legacy Fund. The SWOSU Football Legacy Fund was established in 2015 to provide private support to the SWOSU football program. “We are so thankful to Vance Nye for his continued investment in and involvement with SWOSU football,” said SWOSU Athletic Director Todd Helton. “Private gifts are crucial to our success, and donors like Vance who give back to our programs make it possible for our student-athletes to reach higher.”

SWOSU Fall Semester Classes Start August 16

SWOSU Press Release Fall semester classes begin August 16 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Sayre, and Yukon, and enrollment continues for students who want to begin or continue their educational endeavors at SWOSU. Shamus Moore, registrar on the Weatherford campus, said students can enroll at the Registrar’s Office on either the Weatherford or Sayre campuses. Online enrollment is also available through the SWOSU website for students that have completed at least 60 hours and the prior semester at SWOSU. Lawmaker kicks off conversation about creating Oklahoma-only D-2 conference

An Owasso lawmaker is preparing to host an interim study later this year probing the feasibility of creating an 11-member Oklahoma-only Division 2 athletic conference. State Rep. Mark Vancuren, R-Owasso, said Oklahoma currently has 11 Division 2 universities and colleges competing in three different athletic conferences that now require the teams to travel up to 500 miles away, as far as Nebraska and south Texas. “Whenever I see that we’ve gotten schools that haven’t had winning records, and we’re competing against schools throughout the state, I don’t understand why we would want to drive or travel long distances and not be able to compete with those teams when we could do something right here in the state of Okla
