A vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver was going the wrong way on College Drive.

A new exhibit in the Lyon County Historical Museum features Southwest Minnesota State University as part of a number of exhibits on the newly-renovated second floor. The SMSU exhibit includes a replica of the concrete pillar which held up the “Dome,” the most identifiable architectural landmark on campus prior to the Jan. 2, 2002 fire that destroyed Food Service East and affected every other building on campus. The display features several glossy posters highlighting various aspects of university history. SMSU gets $1 8M commitment from alumna Deeann Griebel | News, Sports, Jobs

From staff reports MARSHALL Southwest Minnesota State University alumna Deeann J. Griebel has made a commitment that will provide $1.8 million for the Student Success and Advising Center and scholarships at the institution. According to a SMSU release, Griebel’s investment will allow for the creation of new tutoring and mentoring programs to ensure all students have the support they need to become successful graduates. The release said Griebel has been a supporter of SMSU over the years and has made significant contributions to scholarships and capital projects. SMSU plans to recognize her commitment by renaming the Student Success and Advising Center to the Deeann Griebel Student Success Center.
