AHA Names Rural Hospital Leadership Award Winner and Finalist

WASHINGTON (January 19, 2021) – The American Hospital Association (AHA) today announced Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC) in Bennington, Vt., as the 2020 recipient of the Rural Hospital Leadership Award. The award recognizes small or rural hospital leaders who guide their hospital and community through transformational change on the road to health care reform. They display outstanding leadership, responsiveness to their community’s health needs and demonstrate a collaborative community process that has led to measurable outcomes. The award will be presented at the AHA’s 34th Rural Health Care Leadership Conference, which will be held virtually February 17-18, 2021. SVMC To Hold Online COVID-19 Information Session

BENNINGTON, Vt. Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), part of Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC), and Bennington s office of the Vermont Department of Health will appear in a digital information session regarding the COVID-19 vaccine distribution at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19.   The event is made possible with cooperation from CAT-TV and the Southwestern Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Members of the public are invited to view and ask questions during the live broadcast at www.facebook.com/CATTVbennington/. The program will also air on CAT-TV s public channel 1075.   The session will feature SVMC s Chief Medical Officer Trey Dobson and Bennington s Public Health Services District Director for the Vermont Department of Health Megan Herrington. They will discuss the status of a community vaccine clinic and answer questions. The Chamber s Executive Director Matthew Harrington will moderate.

Like us on Facebook.   BENNINGTON — Final reports on the sales of the former Southern Vermont College campus and the Gate House property have been filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, where liquidation of real estate and other assets is proceeding. The court-appointed trustee in the Chapter 7 bankruptcy case, Raymond Obuchowski, filed his reports on Tuesday — concerning the sale of the 371-acre campus to Southwestern Vermont Health Care for $4,650,000, and the sale of the Gate House on Monument Avenue, adjacent the entrance drive, for $320,000 to Kenneth Milman and Bridget Elder, of Bennington. The sales closed on Dec. 31 and Dec. 30, respectively, according to Bennington property transfer records.
