Mayor to Dabawenyos: Brace for increase

Let us all brace ourselves for the increase of cases in Covid-19 diri sa atoang syudad diri sa Davao (here in Davao City), Duterte-Carpio said in an interview on 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio. The mayor made her statement after hearing the report of the City Health Office (CHO) Acting Head and Davao City Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Ashley Lopez during the weekly department heads’ meeting held every Monday morning. According to Lopez’s report, there is a notable rise of cases in the city similar to what was experienced in the previous increase in cases.

Seniors in Davao City receive Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine

May 17, 2021 AFTER previously experiencing logistical delays, Pfizer-BioNTech’s BNT162b2, the third Covid-19 vaccine brand that arrived in Davao Region, has already been inoculated to senior citizens in Davao City on Monday, May 17, 2021. The Department of Health (DOH)-Davao Region led the symbolic vaccination rollout of Pfizer-BioNTech at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC). A total of 29,250 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech arrived on Wednesday afternoon, May 11, along with the 132,000 doses of AstraZeneca and 80 doses of Sinovac. DOH-Davao Director Annabelle Yumang told the media that all Pfizer vaccines will be allotted in Davao City hospitals, particularly in Davao City, for now. According to the Department of Health-Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (DOH-Resu)-Davao Region data from 1993 to December 2020, Davao City has contributed to the highest number of cases with 3,312, followed by Davao del Norte with 556, then Davao del Sur (242), Davao de Oro (200), Davao Oriental (141), and Davao Occidental (62). Out of the total cases, 238 people living with HIV (PLHIV) succumbed to the virus. Dr. Jordana P. Ramiterre, head of Davao City’s Reproductive Health and Wellness Center (RHWC), said the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic affected their office s delivery of programs and services for the prevention of HIV/Aids, and the treatment, care, and support to PLHIV, especially during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

New vaccine arrival in Davao Region for A1, A2

161,330 Covid-19 vaccines arrive in Davao

May 12, 2021 A TOTAL of 161,330 Covid-19 vaccines composed of three brands arrived on Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2021. The vaccines were transported to the Francisco Bangoy International Airport, also known as Davao International Airport, around 4 p.m. via commercial flight. Based on the breakdown provided by the Department of Health-Davao Region (DOH-Davao), through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the region received a total allocation of 132,000 AstraZeneca vaccines, 80 doses of Sinovac, and a total of 29,250 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech. DOH-Davao information officer Yasuy Avila said the 20,000 doses will be allocated for the second dose of the Priority Group A1 or the healthcare workers, while the 56,000 doses will be for the first and second doses of Priority Group A2 or senior citizens.
