SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - The past school year was anything but normal, due to precautions taken because of COVID-19. From masks to social distancing, students and staff had to adapt. What will that look like for the 2021-2022 school year? Will students and staff have to take pre-cautions for COVID-19? The South Sioux City Community School District says they have a plan in place, but will make changes if needed. We are just at the initial stages of examining our different phases that we had from last school yearh in determining what if any what changes we would make going forward, said Becky Eckhardt, student services director.

Siouxland school districts work to fill the need for substitute teachers SIOUXLAND (KTIV) - Some Siouxland school districts say there is still a need for substitute teachers. We never have enough substitute teachers on hand, said Director of Human Resources Jill Gill of the South Sioux City Community School District. There is a demand for substitute teachers every year, and this year is not unlike any of those, we definitely have a need for substitute teachers, said Director of Communications Mandie Mayo of the Sioux City Community School District. Sioux City and South Sioux City Community School districts are both working to fill the high demand for substitute teachers.
