TSRTC issues guidelines for job security of staffers

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has issued fresh guidelines for its employees, standardizing the system for dealing with corruption committed by drivers and conductors during their duties.
These guidelines will ensure transparency, uniformity, a sense of job security and employee confidence, in addition to existing rules, the corporation said.
According to a circular issued by the corporation, the head office has come to know that there was a big difference in dealing with similar crimes in different units of the corporation and punishments awarded in large number of cases are disproportionate to delinquencies resulting in growing unrest among employees.

It was thrilling for many to climb on to the upper deck and enjoy the ride through some of the popular thoroughfares.
This was the situation on the roads of this historic city about two decades ago. Now the city will be literally turning the clock back with the re-introduction of double-decker buses.

While the city has seen tremendous transformation over the last 2-3 decades, phasing out traditional modes of transport like cycle-rickshaws, double-decker buses are definitely among the modes of transport the city people want to see back on roads.
Hyderabad: Double decker buses, once a tourist attraction, are set to stage a comeback on the roads of Hyderabad.
Originally introduced by the Nizam’s Transport Services during the reign of the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan in the 1940s, double decker buses were taken off the road in the 1990s by Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
But now the prospects of their return have brightened with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) calling for tenders for providing 15 double decker buses for its Hyderabad operations.
Showing keen interest in the project, the TSRTC has also convened a pre-bidding meeting with interested parties for discussion on all the aspects of the project.

The buses were phased out from city roads in the early 2000s due to operational and maintenance costs and lack of availability of spare parts.
