Unicomer (St. Lucia) Limited led the charge immediately following the first eruption, sending emergency supplies to the Unicomer St Vincent staff. Managing Director, Mr. Vincent Gordon stated that, “Following the eruption, we rushed to ensure that the needs of our team members were met, quickly shipping disaster supplies for them and their families. However, we couldn’t stop there. Our Courts brands have been a part of the Kingstown community for years. We felt compelled to act, and solicited extended support from a key sister company in the Caribbean.”

(FAO), Press Release FAO provided urgent technical assistance for the agriculture sector (livestock, crops, fisheries and rural livelihoods) to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry and Labour in St. Vincent and the Grenadines    April 26, 2021, Bridgetown, Barbados  –  As many persons and organizations prepared to usher in 2021 on Old Year’s Night, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), had commenced critical discussions with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry and Labour in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in anticipation of the eruption of La Soufriere volcano.   The discussions led to the development of The Volcano Eruption Preparedness and Emergency Response Protocols for Agriculture through a multi-step consultation process with the different departments within the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Rural Transformation, Industry and Labour

NEMO warns about possible flooding, landslides and mudflows  Flooding between the market (left) and the police station (right) Social Share The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) is advising the public to be vigilant and  exercise caution in areas close to valleys, rivers, streams, low-lying areas and areas prone to flooding and  landslides.  The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services says pockets of light to moderate showers  are expected between now and early Tuesday morning. The stations at Jennings Valley, South Rivers and  Majorca recorded over an inch of rainfall over a six-hour period today and soils are still saturated from  the heavy rainfall event on Thursday April 29th, 2021.
