Ashley Huprich, DVP development associate, said that while the amount of hotline calls has remained fairly consistent since the pandemic hit, the agency has fielded a lot of first-time callers. Also, the intensity of the abuse has been more severe, she said. Some of our clients, we were already working with when COVID hit, and they weren t able to reach out.
Huprich said DVP hopes to raise $480,000 this year. The money will be used for operational expenses and programming, including its 24-hour hotline, two emergency shelters, transitional housing, medical and legal advocacy, as well as outreach and aftercare for people who are no longer in a shelter.
