BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. Baldwin High School s band is receiving national attention for their accomplishments.
The district has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education award from the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.
This marked the sixth year in a row that Baldwin County has won the award.
Baldwin High School Band Director James McMillan and band student Will Franklin discussed what the award means to the music program.
PHOENIX - For the 11th year in a row, the Phoenix Central School Districtâs (PCSD) music program earned national recognition as one of the Best Communities for Music Education.
The designation is given annually by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation to school districts that embrace music education. It takes into account the efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music part of the curriculum.
The Phoenix Central School District was one of 686 districts to earn the distinction for 2021.
âEven in the middle of a pandemic, our music program continues to shine,â said PCSD Superintendent of Schools, Christopher Byrne. âCongratulations to our music department, our students and our entire community! This honor is well-deserved and a testament to our Firebird community and their commitment to music education.â

HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) - For the ninth year in a row, Hanover County Public Schools received national recognition for its musical education program. The National Association of Music Merchants Foundation, or NAMM, named Hanover County as a âBest Community for Music Education,â according to a release from the school district.
Hanover is one of 20 school divisions to ever receive the award â out of 132 school division in the state.

The Milford Public School district has received a Best Communities for Music Education designation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Now in its 22nd year, the BCME recognition is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. The recognition is given on behalf of the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation (NAMM), a leading non-profit organization that supports scientific research, philanthropy and public service programming in the world of music.

To qualify for the designation, district officials answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
