Consider gathering in a backyard rather than inside, Hullum said. It s important to still maintain social distance, wear a mask and wash your hands.
Every year, Hullum said, the trauma centers see an increase of firework injuries over New Year s.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in December 2018, 839 people died in alcohol-related crashes, and 35 of them on Christmas Day.
