Jagan discusses temple attacks, MGNREGS, SCS in pre-budget meeting
Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday asked the party MPs to raise Polavaram project, attacks on temples, Special Category Status (SCS), revenue deficit and MGNREGS arrears among other major issues pertaining to the State in the budget session of the Parliament starting later this month.
The roadblocks will be manned by the police, Armed Forces, Rela volunteers and the Civil Defence Force.
Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the roadblock set-up was among the components decided during a Penang Security Council Committee (JKNPP) meeting.
He said the state had also sent a letter to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) director-general to suggest for new low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).
“This was regarding suggestions for a new PKRC at the Mara Excellence Centre (MEC) in Jawi and at the Pesta site in Sungai Nibong.
“Both locations will be able to house up to 1,000 patients.
A norm that permitted relief only upto a maximum of two hectares has been relaxed in view of the losses suffered by ryots and the assistance shall cover loss in its entirety without any upper limit, Mr Palaniswami said.

Farmers organisations have welcomed Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami’s announcement sanctioning input relief for farmers affected by recent cyclones – Nivar and Burevi. Expressing gratitude to the government for accepting their pleas for increasing the relief given under the disaster relief fund to ₹20,000 from ₹13,500 a hectare, P. R. Pandian, president, Tamil Nadu All Farmers Associations Coordination Committee, observed that for several years the relief given under fund had not been increased. “We have been pressing for a hike taking into account the increase in input and cultivation costs,” he said, expressing delight over the hike in the quantum of compensation.

Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Saturday announced Rs 600 crore relief assistance to about five lakh farmers, whose crops on 3.10 lakh plus hectares were hit due to the recent back to back cyclones in Tamil Nadu. A norm that permitted relief only upto a maximum of two hectares has been relaxed in view of the losses suffered by ryots and the assistance shall cover loss in its entirety without any upper limit, Palaniswami said.
