The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is likely to review the award of air conditioning contract for metro cars for the Delhi-Meerut Rapid Regional Transport System (RRTS) to a Chinese company for any possible violation of the Make in India guidelines.

US-based Wabtec has received an order to provide major components for the new rolling stock, which is being built by Alstom for the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport Systems (RRTS).

US-based Wabtec has received an order to provide major components for the new rolling stock, which is being built by Alstom for the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport Systems (RRTS).
The $15m order has been placed for 30 regional commuter trains each with six cars and ten metro trains each with four cars.
Alstom will receive components such as roof disconnector switches, technology brake systems, pantographs, and fully integrated passenger information systems from Wabtec.

New Delhi, April 18 : Work on the 82 km-long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) from Delhi s Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh is in full swing and the viaduct of the around 17 km corridor has been completed.
The RRTS, India s first of its kind project undertaken by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), is being developed to provide high speed and sustainable mobility solutions in the national Capital Region (NCR).
Ghaziabad: The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has started laying tracks on the 17km-long priority section of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) route. As per officials, construction of a pre-cast track slab is going on in a factory in Meerut’s Shatabdinagar. These track slabs will be transported to the site and installed.
The first lot of grade rails, being manufactured in Raigarh under the Make in India initiative, has arrived in Duhai and the work has already started in the Sahibabad-Duhai section. Around 4km of RRTS viaduct has been constructed where finishing work, such as installation of bearings, parapets and road median, are progressing, officials said.
