Alstom has won a contract worth €106 million from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation Ltd. (NCRTC) to design, supply and install the signalling, train control and telecommunication system (Package 24) of the 82.15 km Delhi – Ghaziabad – Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Corridor. NCRTC is a joint venture between the Government of India and States of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. It is implementing RRTS, a first-of-its-kind semi-high-speed rail line which will reduce the journey time between Delhi and Meerut to just 60 minutes, compared to the current 90-100 minutes, and with a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

The country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is set to use an advanced signalling and train control system, said officials of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
According to the NCRTC, the RRTS will adopt a modern European Train Control System Level 2 signalling over the long-term evolution communication backbone with the adoption of state-of-art Hybrid Level 3. “Adoption of this signalling technology adds to the distinction of RRTS, as the first technologically advanced rail network in India will be operational with a design speed of 180 km/hr,” the NCRTC stated.

In a mega boost for the 82-km-long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS), the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has awarded the contract worth Rs 910 crore to design, supply and install the signalling, train and telecommunication system to French railway giant Alstom.
The NCRTC is implementing RRTS, a first-of-its-kind semi-high-speed rail line which will reduce the journey time between Delhi and Meerut to just 60 minutes, compared to the current 90-100 minutes, and with a maximum speed of 160 kmph.
