National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) Amendment Act increases powers of the Lt Governor. New Delhi: The Delhi High Court today asked the Centre to reply on a plea for striking down the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) Amendment Act which increases powers of the Lieutenant Governor. A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh issued notice to the ministries of law and home affairs seeking their stand on the plea. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Chetan Sharma and central government standing counsel Ajay Digpaul accepted the notice on behalf of the ministries. The plea by law student Skrikant Prasad has claimed that the Act, which came into force on April 27, re-defines Delhi government as the Lt Governor and curbs the Delhi Assembly s power to conduct proceedings.

Local Address Proof Not Mandatory for a COVID Patient for Hospital Admission, says Supreme Court Moneylife Digital Team  0 While asking the union government to frame within two weeks a uniform national policy on hospital admissions, the Supreme Court has said that no patient should be denied hospitalisation or essential drugs in any state and union territory (UT) for lack of local residential proof of that state or UT or even in the absence of identity proof.   Quoting the SC order, a report from LiveLaw says, The central government shall, within two weeks, formulate a national policy on admissions to hospitals which shall be followed by all state governments. Till the formulation of such a policy by the central government, no patient shall be denied hospitalisation or essential drugs in any state/UT for lack of local residential proof of that state/UT or even in the absence of identity proof.

Reuters Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Sunday expressed anguish over issues related to availability of oxygen in the national capital and emphasised the need to ramp up the city s medical infrastructure. At a high-level review meeting on the COVID-19 situation here, Gauba also asked the Delhi government to make every effort to lift their allocated oxygen by using all means.
