MUNCIE, Ind. The White River in Muncie rose to minor flood stage Monday afternoon after heavy rain from Sunday drained into the 362-mile river that crosses through central and southern Indiana.
Rainfall over the weekend is producing minor flooding along parts of the the Wabash and White rivers in Indiana. Muncie was reporting nearly an inch of rain in a 24-hour period.

As of 2:30 p.m. Monday the National Weather Service reported that the White River’s depth was 9.17 feet at the monitoring station located near Central High School. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis also issued a Flood Warning for the White River from Muncie to Ravenswood.

STATEWIDE–Be ready for anything. That’s the advice from the National Weather Service about severe weather possibilities throughout the state tonight.
“All of our severe forms of weather are in play,” said Crystal Pettet, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.
“The main threats with these storms are large hail, damaging winds, and we can’t rule out some isolated tornadoes.”
Pettet projects the timeline of the storms to be the strongest anywhere
between 10 pm Monday and 4 am Tuesday. Most of southwest Indiana is under an “enhanced risk” for severe weather.

A giant plume of smoke took over the west side of Indianapolis on Friday as firefighters battled 80,000 tons of burning scrap metal and strong wind conditions for 13 hours at OmniSource Corporation, a recycling plant on South Holt Road.
Passersby watched as thick smoke stretched across two miles, thickly billowing 30-35 feet above the blaze. A shelter-in-place order, lasting at least five hours, asked nearby businesses and residents to stay indoors, turn off their air conditioners and close windows. Drivers were warned of limited visibility.
