Corning: 11.5 inches as of 2 p.m. Tuesday
Hornell: 4.5 inches as of 2 p.m. Tuesday
Norwich: 8.3 inches as of 8 a.m. Tuesday
Waverly: 11.4 inches as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday
Oneonta: 14 inches as of 7 a.m. Tuesday

Winter Snow Blow Coming Bringing 6-12 Inches
The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Chenango and Otsego Counties starting at 10:00 a.m. this morning and going until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night. Meteorologists are calling for a range from 6 to 12 inches of snow fall for this storm system. The Weather Service adds the following details below.
IMPACTS.Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
conditions could impact the evening commute tonight.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS.This will be a long duration event. Occasional light snow falls today, but then snow may become heavy at times late today through Tuesday with areas of blowing snow.

For the morning hours on Friday, the National Weather Service in Binghamton had issued a Wind Chill Advisory and a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of the Southern Tier and Central New York until noon but the entire region was expected wind chills to remain in the minus single-digits through at least during the day Saturday, January 30 before winds were expected to die down.
In addition to blowing snow across roadways, causing for sudden, slick conditions, the swirling flakes greatly reduce visibility.

With winds gusting over 20 to 30 miles per hour at times, the bitterly cold wind chill values make for a danger of frost bite within less 30 minutes.

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Emergency Response in Tompkins County is alerting the public to prepare for winter’s first arctic blast.
Extremely low wind chills, dipping to as low as -10, are forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. The national weather service says the arctic air will arrive Thursday afternoon. Residents should protect themselves against cold-related emergencies such as frostbite and hypothermia.
The American Red Cross recommends dressing appropriately and avoid staying in the cold too long – also drink plenty of warm fluids but avoid caffeine and alcohol. -
