The Wellsburg Bridge move and lift project, most recently scheduled for Friday and Saturday, has tentatively been rescheduled for early next week, according to a press release provided by the West Virginia Division of Transportation.
The new two-day window is Monday and Tuesday. It is the second time this week that the project has been rescheduled due to the local weather forecast. It initially was scheduled for this past Monday and Tuesday, then moved to Friday and Saturday, before heading to its current dates.

WELLSBURG The much anticipated two-day Wellsburg Bridge lift project, initially scheduled for midweek has tentatively been pushed back to Friday and Saturday, weather pending, according to officials with Flatiron Construction and West Virginia Division of Transportation.
Flatiron Marketing & Communications Representative Jalie Creech said safety factors with Wednesday and Thursday’s local weather forecast pushed the bridge move to Friday and Saturday. She said that, with a project of this magnitude, Flatiron wants to make sure all the weather conditions are in the proper safety margins before moving forward with the project.
A motorist had to be rescued Monday morning when she attempted to drive across a flooded road near Brownsville and her car quickly became submerged under water.
