LONDON ONT The Thames Valley District School Board announced one new COVID-19 case at Clarke Road Secondary School. Officials say all staff, parents and guardians of affected school communities were immediately notified. The health unit continues to investigate close contacts in order to follow-up with testing advice. Anyone who is not contacted is not considered to be at risk. All confirmed active cases are tracked on their website here. Meanwhile the Catholic board currently lists no active cases at in the London and surrounding area. LONDON, ONT The Thames Valley District School Board along with the Middlesex London Health Unit have confirmed cases of COVID-19 within four school communities. The board has since updated their release saying that while they have confirmed the cases they are considered resolved. The cases come despite the holiday break, a week of remote learning for elementary students, and several weeks for seconday students. The four schools are Strathroy District Collegiate Institute, Lord Dorchester Secondary School, Louise Arbour French Immersion, and Stoney Creek Public School. The health unit and school board do not specify if cases are among students, staff, or faculty.
MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ONT. The Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting 119 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, while Southwestern Public Health (SWPH) is reporting 71 cases, both new daily records. The previous record in Middlesex-London was 100 cases reported just two days ago. In Oxford and Elgin counties the previous record was 47 cases on Dec. 23. The new cases in Middlesex-London bring the cumulative total to 3,314, with 2,518 resolved and 102 deaths (none new), leaving 694 active cases. In Elgin-Oxford, the cumulative total is now at 1,286 cases, with 978 resolved and 13 deaths (one new) leaving 296 active cases. SWPH says with modelling projecting daily counts near 100 in Jan. 2021, there are concerns that it will be a challenge to reach close contacts within 24 hours.
