ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2021 ) :Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque has been appointed as President of Global Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Committee of the WorldBusiness Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), a sub-organization of G20 countries.
The WBAF has selected Pakistanfrom 127 countries for the office of Committee s President while India was also in a queue to hold this important position.
However, the position was secured by the Pakistan, a news release said here on Monday.
The appointment of Syed Amin Ul Haque as President of the STI Committee was based on his prominent role in the IT and Telecom sector in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) had successfully tested 5G technology. The fifth generation technology trial was conducted in a limited environment on a non-commercial basis.
Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque said that 5G services will be launched in Pakistan in December 2022. He said that the IT ministry is working with the prime minister to launch 5G services in the country. It is the IT ministry’s vision that every Pakistani should have a smartphone, the minister said. The mobile phone companies have started manufacturing ones in the country. He was speaking to media in Islamabad on Wednesday after the Universal Service Fund contract signing ceremony. The Universal Service Fund awarded the contract worth approximately Rs1.37 billion to Telenor for providing high-speed mobile broadband services in Chitral, Upper Dir.
IT Minister lauds FBR’s initiative of adopting definition of IT/ITES sector

This positive news has a great value for Sector which has posted 40% growth rate in IT Exports Remittances during July-December for current Financial Year amounting USD 958 million, in comparison to remittances of USD 684 million posted for first half of last financial year.
Pakistan’s IT Sector has potential to increase its exports manifold: Minister

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque told the Senate on Tuesday that the Country’s IT Sector has the potential to increase its exports manifold.
In a written reply to a question, the minister told the House that Pakistan’s IT industry is an evolving regime, it is growing at a faster rate, earning valuable foreign exchange, creating high paying jobs, improving national productivity and quality of life through innovative technology solutions.
The minister said that this can be garnered from the fact that IT & IT enabled Services (ITeS) export remittances comprising computer services and call center services have surged to US$ 1.230 billion at a growth rate of 23.71% in the FY 2019-20 in comparison to US$ 994.848 million during the same period despite current global economic challenges thereby demonstrating the resilience of Pakist
