RT-PCR tests at laboratories along with 14-day institutional quarantine
Following reports of a new variant of
coronavirus, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued an elaborate Standard operation Procedure (SoP) to all state governments to track and monitor visitors from the United Kingdom between December 21 and 23.
Passengers, who test positive for RT-PCR tests at airports, should undergo spike gene-based RT-PCR at an appropriate laboratory. Anyone who tests positive will undergo institutional quarantine in coordination with health authorities while those who have tested negative at airports will remain under home quarantine for 14 days.

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], December 23 (ANI): The Odisha government has asked authorities to take precautionary measures and to ensure strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Union Health Ministry with a mandatory screening of the persons with travel history of UK.
PK Mohapatra, Additional Chief Secretary to Government has asked Commissioner, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Director, Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Collector, Jharsuguda, CDM and PHO, Jharsuguda and Director, Airport Authority of India, Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda for taking Precautionary measures.

As many as 209 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Jharkhand on Tuesday, according to the State Health Department. A total of 1,13,407 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the state so far including 1,635 active cases. With three new fatalities recorded on Tuesday, the toll mounted to 1,014. Two hundred and forty-six persons recovered from the deadly infection yesterday, taking the tally for recoveries in the state to 1,10,758. Meanwhile, India continues to witness a steady decline in daily new coronavirus cases as 19,556 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total count to 1,00,75,116. The total recoveries have gone up to 96,36,487 with 30,376 new recoveries recorded on Tuesday. The recovery rate stands at 95.65 per cent.
