SRINAGAR: The untamed Covid-19 disease has killed another 40 people in the last 24 hours taking the overall death toll in Jammu and Kashmir to 2370, officials’ sources said. In comparison to the last few days, the number of deaths and new cases is less by a whisker.
J&K Records Highest Ever Deaths Due To COVID
SRINAGAR: Thirty-five fresh COVID-19 related deaths were reported in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir since last night, thus taking total number of Coronavirus deaths to 2,318.
An official told that thirty five patients who died include 50-year-old woman from Ashpeer Sopore, 52-year-old woman from Kokernag, 75-year-old man from Solina, 62-year-old man from Hyderpora, 55-year-old man from Nowgam, 75-year-old woman from Barbarshah, 73-year-old female from Sanatnagar, 80-year-old man from Lal Bazar, 25-year-old youth from Natipora, 50-year-old man from Kathidarwaza, 60-year-old man from Karan Nagar, Old aged man from Shopian, 70-year-old man from Pandach, two from Srinagar, one from Kupwara and nineteen from Jammu division.
SRINAGAR: As Covid-19 cases continue to be on the rise in J&K, a 25-year-old girl from Shankarpora Anantnag was among seventeen patients, who died due to Covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir sine last night, thus taking the total fatalities count in the Union Territory to 2,270.
An official said that seventeen patients who died include 60-year-old man from Naikbagh Natipora, 95-year-old man from Rajbagh, 86-year-old man from Barbarshah, 55-year-old man from Magarmal Bagh, 54-year-old woman from Eidgha, 45-year-old man from Batamaloo, 65-year-old female from Bagh-e-mehtab, 25-year-old girl from Shankarpora Anantnag, 65-year-old male from Shivpora, 65-year-old from Bagh-e-mehtab, 78-year-old man from Safapora Bandipora and six patients die at GMC Jammu after testing positive for Coronavirus.

As most liquor vendors have shut their shops after implementing the new excise policy in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, production of illicit liquor has recorded a significant increase, especially in the rural belts, in the past few weeks.
Furthermore, repeated lockdown and COVID restrictions have boosted hooch business in the rural areas, where boozers have adopted the traditional method of preparing illicit liquor, primarily produced by the fermentation and distillation process using molasses and Lahan .

On early Friday morning, a police team conducted a raid in the remotest Arnas area of Reasi district and destroyed a stall - illegally installed in the forest area, to produce illicit liquor. One accused namely Kako Ram, allegedly involved in hooch production in this belt, was arrested and a huge quantity of illicit liquor and Lahan was recovered from his house.
