SRINAGAR: One-way traffic was on Monday restored on historic 86-km-long Mughal road after remaining closed since Sunday evening due to landslide triggered by heavy rain at Peer Ki Gali.
Meanwhile, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) were plying from both sides on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, which connects Kashmir valley with rest of the country, while only one-way traffic was allowed on 434-km-long Ladakh highway.
“Mughal road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region, was on Monday reopened for traffic after remaining closed since Sunday evening due to landslide at Mansar Morh near Peer Ki Gali,” a traffic police official said.

JAMMU, May 24: For second consecutive day, COVID positive cases showed steep decline across Jammu region including Jammu district with today’s cases dipping to 854 down from yesterday’s 1121 and nearly half from past 12 days when they soared to 1759. In another healthy sign, the daily recoveries continued to surge for past one week and stood at 1490 much more than today’s positives.
However, there was no let up in COVID deaths with 29 more persons, 18 of them women, succumbing to the virus across the region.

LEH, May 19: A Government official and two women were among five persons who died of COVID-19 in the Union Territory of Ladakh today while 202 persons tested positive for the virus, the maximum cases, as usual, being reported from Leh district.
Out of five Corona casualties in Ladakh, four were reported from Leh district and one from Kargil.
A 43-year-old Government official Mohammad Akbar, posted in the office of Education Department died of COVID-19 in Leh today. Hailing from Skampari Leh, he was admitted in the hospital since May 8.
