Ladakh UT detects unauthorized information flow, communication of Govt documents

Officials cautioned against creating unwanted issues Mohinder Verma JAMMU, Mar 2: The administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has detected unauthorized information flow and communication of official documents without due approval and unwarranted access to the non-Government functionaries, which amounts to blatant violation of Employees Conduct Rules, 1971 and instructions issued from time to time. This conduct of the officials has been viewed very seriously by the administration and accordingly fresh instructions have been issued for strict compliance by all the employees failing which departmental action will be taken and penalties imposed. Rule 12 of the J&K Employees Conduct Rules, 1971 states: “No Government employee shall, except in accordance with any general or special order of the Government or in the performance in good faith of the duties assigned to him, communicate, directly or indirectly, any official document or any part thereof or information to any Governmen

(Courtesy of Tanya Bakhmetyeva) Work to preserve testimonies of a people and their culture is recognized as an “outstanding model of applied environmental history scholarship.” Several University of Rochester historians are being honored for their work in chronicling the history of climate change in Ladakh, a mountain region in the far north of India. Tanya Bakhmetyeva, an associate professor of history and gender, sexuality, and women’s studies who serves as the associate academic director of the University’s Susan B. Reopening of Srinagar-Leh highway postponed due to fresh snowfall SRINAGAR : The reopening of 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway, where vehicular traffic was to be allowed on Sunday after remaining suspended since January 1, was postponed due to fresh snowfall on Saturday. “Traffic on Srinagar-Leh highway, which connects the Union Territory of Ladakh with Kashmir valley, remained suspended since January 1,” a traffic police official said. He said the reopening of the highway was postponed following accumulation of about a foot to 2 feet of snow since Friday night. “Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which is responsible for the maintenance of the highway, has pressed into service sophisticated machines to put through the traffic on the road,” he said.
