SRINAGAR, Jan 29: Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today expressed serious concern over the procedure adopted for transferring around 8.23 per cent shareholding of Jammu and Kashmir Bank to the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of a joining ceremony, Bukhari said the Government of Jammu and Kashmir should have taken all the stakeholders on board while apportioning the assets and liabilities of Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to the decision, Bukhari termed the administrative diktat as unilateral and arbitrary in nature. He said J&K Bank is a prized possession of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir whose asset division is being unfortunately carried out without taking the actual stakeholders on board.

Active COVID-19 cases in Ladakh drop to 51
LADAKH: The number of active COVID-19 cases dropped to 51 in the Union Territory of Ladakh after recovery of four more patients, while 490 healthcare workers have been vaccinated against the infection till date, officials said on Wednesday.
A new coronavirus case was detected in Leh, taking the total number of cases in the union territory to 9,687.
Ladakh has so far recorded 129 coronavirus-related deaths 85 in Leh district and 44 in Kargil district. A total of 9,504 patients have recovered from the disease so far, they said.
Officials said the recovered patients included four persons who were discharged by the chief medical officer of Leh. With the recovery of these patients, the number of active cases in Ladakh dropped to 51 two in Kargil and 49 in Leh.

Leaders from Kargil on Monday expressed dismay over being sidelined from the first-ever tableau from the Union Territory of Ladakh, participating in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi on Tuesday.
“Ladakh region means cultural and religious heritage sites representing both Muslims and Buddhists from Leh and Kargil districts. However, it’s for the first time that Ladakh will have a tableau of its own but the leadership in Kargil believes there is no equal share of representation. Both the religious and cultural heritage has been ignored,” Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council-Kargil Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan said.
