Construction sector urged to comply with updated safe operating guidance 13 January, 2021 SHARE Construction companies and workers are urged to review safety in their own workplaces referring to the addendum to the guidance published by Construction Scotland. Construction companies and workers have been urged to follow updated Covid-19 guidance after industry leaders issued new Safe Operating Guidance for the construction sector. Ken Gillespie, Construction Scotland, Industry Leadership Group and member of the Scottish Construction Leadership Forum Executive Group, has urged all of the construction industry to “play its part” during the latest lockdown by following safety measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 and strictly follow the updated guidance.

The importance of the £1 billion forestry sector to Scotland’s economy has been underlined with the launch of a new initiative to attract young workers into the industry. The initiative, called Growing Rural Talent sees forestry companies encouraged to take on new young staff through a subsidy programme. The project was highlighted at the recent Forestry Jobs Summit organised by the Industry Leadership Group and key forestry organisations. Stuart Goodall, chief executive of forestry and wood trade body Confor, said: “Forestry and wood processing is a sector on the up and very much of its time.
