Nazareth Area middle, high schools are likely to stick with hybrid learning

Nazareth Area middle and high schools should stick with 2-day-a-week in-school classes rather than go to five days a week, according to the superintendent.
Nazareth Area School District Superintendent Dennis Riker sent a letter Monday to parents of middle and high school students outlining his recommendation to the school board.
He said there isn’t enough room in the middle and high schools to maintain six feet of social distancing for the full student body. Also, students in those schools switch classes and don’t move from room to room as a full class like the children in the elementary and intermediate schools.

Nazareth Area Middle School to close for a week due to COVID cases

Nazareth Area Middle School on Tuesday announced it will close for a week because of COVID-19 cases.
Robert Bauder, the school’s principal, explained the closure in a letter to the school community that was posted on the Nazareth Area School District website.
It went into effect Tuesday and will continue through next Monday, March 22. The plan is to reopen to students and staff the following day.
“During the targeted closure, the building will be closed to all students and staff for cleaning and contact tracing, and all instruction will be provided remotely,” the principal said in the letter.
