FIJI AND KOREA SIGN GRANT AID FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT

The signing of the Framework Agreement for Grant Aid between Fiji and Korea represents the exemplary partnership of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
The official signing of the Framework Agreement for Grant Aid took place on Tuesday between the Ambassador of Korea to Fiji, His Excellency, Mr Park Young-kyu and the Permanent Secretary Office of the Prime Minister and Acting Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yogesh Karan.
The Framework formalises the cooperation between Fiji and Korea for the establishment of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Pacific Office in Fiji and advancement of regional development cooperation through KOICA’s aid strategy for the Pacific Region. Through this elevated collaboration, (KOICA) will comprehensively support the regional efforts to recover and rebuild from the impacts of COVID-19.

The official signing of the Framework Agreement for Grant Aid this week formalises the cooperation between Fiji and Korea for the establishment of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Pacific Office in Fiji.
The signing between the Ambassador of Korea to Fiji, Park Young-kyu and the Permanent Secretary Office of the Prime Minister and Acting Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Yogesh Karan will also see the advancement of regional development cooperation through KOICA’s aid strategy for the Pacific Region.

Acting Permanent Secretary for Economy, Shiri Gounder has been appointed as a member of the Fiji National Provident Fund Board.
Gounder officially joined the Fund as a Board Director on 24th June 2021.
FNPF says Gounder has around 15 years of professional experience with both the Reserve Bank of Fiji and the Ministry of Economy in areas of national budget formulation, taxation and customs policy, public financial management, macroeconomic policy and strategic management.
He is also a Board Director at the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, Energy Fiji Limited, Unit Trust of Fiji and Fiji Investment Corporation Limited.

The Acting Permanent Secretary for Economy Shiri Gounder . [image: File] Around 205,000 Fijians in the informal sector were paid out $10.2 million through the second round of government s $50 cash assistance this week.
These are individuals whose employment income has been affected and those that not receive other forms of Government assistance.
Affected individuals had to apply by dialling 161# and provide their full name, birth registration number, date of birth, voter identification number, TIN Number, FNPF number and home address.
The Acting Permanent Secretary for Economy Shiri Gounder says government has so far paid out $32 million to people in the informal sector through their $90 and $50 cash assistance programs.
