Posted By: JJ Hayes December 23, 2020 @ 3:29 am Blogs, JJ Hayes Show Page     Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 77-year old Vietnam Veteran John Holaday.  5 years ago, John was scammed by a contractor who took him for all he had.  John’s home fell into disrepair because the job was never finished.  It left John with no power, water or sewer.  Finally, after 5 very long years, someone realized how John had been living and friends, neighbors and strangers stepped in to help.  For the last couple of months, reconstruction on the house brought it back to better than it was and the other day John walked into his new home filled with his Army memorabilia, photos, and Christmas presents.  John couldn’t hold back the tears of joy saying he never thought getting his house fixed could happen.  Enjoy your home John and THANK YOU for your service.

Star Spangled Salute: A Veteran Gets A New Home

Posted By: JJ Hayes December 21, 2020 @ 3:59 am Blogs, JJ Hayes Show Page     Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Army Veteran Adam Poppenhouse.  It was just over 14 years ago that an IED in Iraq, changed Adam’s life.  3 years into his service, he and his crew were rescuing a downed pilot when the blast hit his vehicle and took his legs.  While he lived relatively pain free, his new normal was 2 prosthetic legs.   Yes, he had an active lifestyle but there were still limitations that didn’t always allow him to help his wife as much around the house with their kids.  Now, Adam and his family have just been gifted a special, wheel chair accessible home, thanks to the nonprofit Homes For Our Troops.  Adam says this gift will allow him to be more involved with his children, and help alleviate some of that burden from his wife.   Enjoy your new home Adam and THANK YOU for your service.
