Top 5 Reasons You Should Support GREAT During Give for Good
As if you need an excuse to give to such an amazing program!
Yesterday, as I was working my weekly volunteer shift at GREAT in Greenwood, one of our students leaned over and asked me to help her trot. First, I was humbled that she trusted me to keep her safe while doing something that she was scared of doing. Second, I realized how blessed I was to be able to work with such incredible individuals. When most folks think of inclusivity, they think of race or gender, they don t think of the people living daily with physical, cognitive, or behavioral challenges. GREAT promotes true inclusivity and so much more!

Okay, if we re being literal, the race runs from this Saturday, April 17th through Saturday, April 24th, 2021. How is that possible you say? It s because it s a virtual 5k! One of the coolest things I ve ever been a part of is the therapeutic riding program at GREAT, which stands for Great Results Equine Assisted Therapies and is a program offered through the Arc of Caddo-Bossier.
As a volunteer, I ve witnessed the healing power of horses first hand. I ve watched students with traumatic brain injuries, Down Syndrome, autism, etc. get stronger, both emotionally and physically. and best of all, at least in my humble opinion, I ve seen the pure joy it brings!
I could go on and on about the benefits of equine-assisted therapies, but it s almost something you have to see for yourself. I invite you to become a volunteer at Great. I also hope you ll get any loved one that you think might benefit signed up for GREAT s spring session which starts the week of January 25, 2021, and runs for 12 weeks.
