Madam Freda Prempeh, the Minister-of-State-designate for Works and Housing has advocated a budget for housing in the national efforts to roll out adequate and affordable housing.
She said such a budget was necessary to fund housing projects, which required intensive capital.
Madam Prempeh, who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North, gave the suggestion during her vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, at the Parliament House, in Osu-Accra, on Thursday.
The Committee, chaired by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Joseph Osei Owusu, who is also the MP for Bekwai, draws its existence and power from the 1992 Constitution and the Standing Orders of Parliament.

The Lands Minister-Designate, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, says regulating every aspect of small scale mining operations is the only way that sector can be sanitised.
“Mr Chairman, I respectfully hold the considered view that the only route to sanitizing the small scale mining sector is to regulate every aspect of their operations. “Community Mining as a mining scheme can help us attain the goal of viable, sustainable and regulated small scale mining industry in Ghana,” he told the Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
The 26-member committee, chaired by First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, currently Joseph Osei Owusu, derives its power from the 1992 Constitution of Ghana and the Standing Orders of Parliament, to vet nominees to public office and recommend or otherwise their approval to the plenary of the House.
