The nominees are awaiting vetting and approval by the Appointments Committee of Parliament. Deputy Minister Nominees: Female Representation Too Small - Dr Otchere-Ankrah Tells Akufo-Addo

Governance lecturer at the Central University, Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has questioned the ratio of female Deputy Minister nominees to males appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo. President Nana Akufo-Addo has released a list of his Deputy Ministers-designate to assist the Ministers in various Ministries. The nominees are yet to be vetted and approved by the Appointments Committee of Parliament. Speaking on Peace FM s Kokrokoo , Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah stated that the number of female Deputy Minister appointees as compared to the males is eighteen (18) to sixty-eight (68). He appealed to the President to increase the females saying, my bias is that the President should have increased the number of female Deputy Minister nominees . . . President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has released his list of Deputy Ministers to serve in his second term. Reports from Presidency, last year, indicated the list of persons to serve as Ministers and Deputy Ministers in the President s second term may not exceed 85. Already, forty-nine (49) persons have been nominated and awaiting vetting and approval by the Appointments Committee of Parliament.
